Q: Different Fabric Types- Peanut Shell Sling
What is the difference between the different fabric types for the Peanut Shell Slings?

    A: MICROFLEECE
Lightweight version of normal fleece, still very soft but not as bulky. It is a high-quality anti-pill fabric. It is fantastic for the cooler months but is also great for summer as the fabric is very breathable and wicks away any excess moisture. Because the Microfleece is supper comfortable and stretchable, it is our first-pick for any newborn or pouch-novice.

    Stretch Cotton (Single Layer)
The fabric is lightweight and breathable and achieves its comfy-stretchy factor with its fabric blend of 97% Cotton and 3% Lycra. The stretch cotton pouches come with a minimum amount of leg padding to help pad behind baby's leg when in the hip carry position.

100% Cotton 'Flips' (Double Layer Reversibles)
The two-sided pouch allows you the choice of a solid colour or a fun print, flip and choose! It is the equivalent of having two pouches in one; great for different seasons. The 'Flips' even have one pocket on each side and also come with a minimum amount of leg padding to help pad behind baby's leg when in the hip carry position

    Q: Sling, why wear one?
What is the advantages of wearing a baby in a Peanut Shell sling?

A: This is taken from www.goo-ga.com

If you are reading this, trying to get a few things done around the house and have your little one in your arms then you definitely need a Peanut Shell®! Besides giving you back both your arms, you will be giving your baby the loving, snuggly closeness that they thrive on when being worn in the Peanut Shell®. Cultures around the world have known for centuries that "wearing" your baby in a sling is wonderful and beneficial for mom and child. Slings are so fabulous in increasing the bond between baby and caregiver as well as giving you some much needed arms-free moments!

It has been shown that babies usually sleep more while in a sling next to the parent, feeling safer and secure. Sometimes these babies also tend to sleep more comfortably during the night. Babies who are out of close physical contact with a parent, are often awake more, have a tendency to cry more, and often have trouble sleeping at night. The Peanut Shell® is also perfect to help soothe a colicky baby and provide the loving closeness babies and toddlers need.

There is no question as to why the Peanut Shell® sling is gaining popularity as the world's most stress free baby carrier! The Peanut Shell® brings the best of every babywearing option into one product. You get a professionally made product that both you and baby will love, a hip stylish sling (yes, it is possible!), a complication-free baby carrier and support a family run business!! With the Peanut Shell® you can now have all the benefits of babywearing and look fashionable!

The Peanut Shell's functionality and ease of use make it the perfect carrier. We only use durable, comfortable fabrics that perfectly support your baby. Since your baby's weight is evenly distributed across your shoulder and back the Peanut Shell® is much more comfortable to wear than any other baby carrier.

We professionally reinforce all of our seams for added security and finish all of our edges ("rails") to offer a more comfortable carry for both baby and momma (plus, it looks great too!). We have sleek comfort padding on the edges of all the cotton slings that allow a baby in the hip carry (or any position with their legs out) to have a cushion from the fabric on their delicate skin. We also have our original conveniently sized little pocket that can be used to carry your cell phone, keys, Starbucks® card, pacifier, etc. and a toy loop. What more do you need!!!

The Peanut Shell® is a throw & go product, a necessity for every busy mom! Our fabulous fabrics are super comfortable and so durable that you can enjoy hours of wearing. It's compact enough to carry in your diaper bag or stroller and makes a great changing pad, cozy blanket or breastfeeding cover.

    A Sling Fanatic
There's a problem here its become quite clear.
Got a 6-month-old Sling fanatic who is clearly an addict.
Wakes in the mid of night screams with horrific might.
So outa the bed I fling and don the medicinal Sling.
Over the head the tool I fit and in it, him I sit.
Instantly he begins to cooo tis amazing what the sling will do.
Which route should I pursue, when he's 20 what should I do?
I gotta wean him from the Sling I tell you, its an addictive thing!

    Q: Peanut Shell Sling sizing
What size should I order for a Peanut Shell Sling?

    A: This is from www.goo-ga.com

Our sizing information is a guide to help you pick the right size that will work best for you and your baby.

    Peanut Shell® Sizing 101
The most important part to successful use of the Peanut Shell® is to first get the right size. Because there are so many factors that affect sizing please read through this page prior to ordering to help you find the size that will work best for you and your baby.

Keep in mind that the even with all of our guidance the "correct" size is what works for you and your baby. Most people can wear 2 different sizes-as you can in clothes.

    Does size really matter?
YES!!! You really need to have the right size. This is the most important step for successful and comfortable use of the Peanut Shell®. If you have a Peanut Shell® that is too big your baby will not feel secure and will ride too low on your body. This is not only unsafe for your child but may also lead to back and/or shoulder discomfort. If the sling is too small you won't even be able to get the baby in or will feel like you can't breathe. Keep in mind that the correct fit of the Peanut Shell® should feel snug with baby inside and if you are new to sling wearing you may even think it is too small.

Please use the information provided on this page to help you pick the correct size. We have created our chart over time and with fitting thousands of parents and have found it to be very accurate however as each person is shaped different and has personal preference that all cannot be accounted for.

How do I know what size to order?
    Please follow our instructions below:

♥ Using a soft measuring tape, measure from one shoulder to the OPPOSITE hip bone to help determine your Peanut Shell® size. Also, measure your upper chest circumference, above the largest part of your bust (under your armpits); DO NOT USE YOUR BRA SIZE OR MEASURE "OVER" THE FULLEST PART OF YOUR BUST. If you do not have a tape measurer, use a piece of string and a standard ruler (or metal tape measurer) to measure yourself. For men's sizing follow the same guidelines.
♥ Use the chart below to determine your approximate size.
♥ If you measure in 2 sizes use the additional information under the chart to help you decide which would be a better size for you and your baby. If you still can't decide you can buy both sizes and return the one that does not fit within 21 days for a full refund. This will save you money, time and frustration.

I'm pregnant but want to buy a Peanut Shell® now
Our sizing charts offer information to help you measure for the right size during pregnancy. If you are still unsure what size to get you may purchase a 2nd pouch, compare the 2 sizes with baby inside and then return whichever Peanut Shell® does not seem to fit as well.

If you are currently pregnant and trying out your new sling you will probably find that it feels too small. This is completely normal and we HIGHLY recommend not exchanging until after your baby is born. It is extremely difficult to determine if the sling will fit correctly until after the baby is born. You may find that once the belly goes down and with baby inside that the sling is a perfect fit! However, please keep all original packaging and invoices handy in case you do need to exchange.

Is my Peanut Shell® too big?
With baby inside the sling and with the correct fit the lowest part of baby's body should hit at your hip bones or above. If your baby is inside the sling and their body is riding below this, the sling is too big. If you feel like your baby is not high enough or not secure enough against your body then you may need to size down. First before that you have the sling on correctly before exchanging your Peanut Shell®. Especially with the microfleece you will want to be sure that baby hits above your hip bones. As they grow a snug fit will be even more necessary.

Is my Peanut Shell® too small?
First, always be sure to try the sling with the baby inside to determine if you have the correct fit. If you can get your baby in the sling (even if it is a little difficult at first) then you probably have the right size. It does take a little practice and getting used to, but the sling should fit snug. However you should not feel uncomfortable or as if you can't breath because it is so snug. Play around with positioning and keep in mind that the microfleece will give a bit with wear. Please keep in mind that the baby will look kind of squished in the cradle carry-this is a good thing and not an indicator that the sling it too small. As long as baby seems content they are not too squished, it just looks that way to us.

Q: Safety Tips for the Peanut Shell
What safety tips do you have for wearing a Peanut Shell Sling?

A: The Peanut Shell® safety tips
Please use common sense while wearing the Peanut Shell® and remember that a baby (or two) is inside! The following tips are important to keep in mind at all times while wearing your baby:

    * When putting the baby in the Peanut Shell® always make sure that you are supporting your baby with at least one arm at all times until you are certain the sling is in place.
    * Be sure to keep baby away from hot stoves, heaters, fireplaces or other hot or sharp objects. Pay attention to what your baby is doing at all times!
    * Bend at the knees, not at the waist, and support baby in the sling with one hand.
    * Please remember that toddlers, if worn, are at your reaching level and love the new freedom to grab potentially dangerous objects off shelves.
    * When going through doorways or around corners, please use extreme caution that baby's body and head does not stick out past your arm and strike the wall or doorjamb.
    * Wear baby cautiously in the kitchen. Do not wear baby while cooking or working with sharp or hot objects.
    * Do not ride a bicycle or any other "cycle" while wearing your baby. Baby carriers are not substitutes for an approved car seat.

Q: FAQs about the Peanut Shell Sling
What are some common questions people have about the Peanut Shell Sling?

A: Q: Why the Peanut Shell® Baby Sling?
A: If you are in need to free up your hands while spending quality time nurturing your baby, a baby sling is a perfect way to go. If you are in need of a comfortable option to show off your baby in style, the Peanut Shell® baby sling is for you. There are no straps, clips, belts, or adjustments necessary. Functional, fun and funky, the Peanut Shell® baby sling can be used for the first few years of your baby's life (up to 36 lbs.). With an affordable price, you can buy one for each day of the week!

Q: Is the Peanut Shell® baby sling like other types of slings?
A: Kind of. Our sling is a pouch style sling, similar in that respect. The difference... The Peanut Shell® baby sling has a slimmer cut on the shoulder eliminating excess bulk, and a perfectly deep pouch that gives your baby the most comfortable ride from infancy through toddlerhood. The Peanut Shell® baby sling is a favorite of many celebrities and mamas around the world! We were the first pouches to hit the market with our perfect pocket and finished rails (edges of the pouch). The edges are finished on all our pouches to extend the durability and comfort for both you and the baby. By finishing the rails it leaves them super soft, durable for extended wear, acts like a padded edge for baby's legs and just looks great! Another difference between the Peanut Shell® baby sling and them: Just look at our selection! Our styles and fabrics show our fearless sense of style. We offer a sleeker selection of fleece fabrics, no extra bulk here (thank goodness), cotton stretch and reversibles. We have a pouch to match any weather, wearer and want!

Q: Is there padding on the Peanut Shell® baby sling?
A: On all of our new cotton stretch and reversible slings there is sleek leg padding. It is a nice little addition for the hip carry or tummy to tummy (if the baby's legs are out). The padding does not add any bulk to the sling or make the sling any warmer. For our micro-fleece Peanut Shell® baby slings there is not a need for padding because the fabric stretches more.

Q: I have never worn a sling before, what Peanut Shell® baby sling is the best choice for me?
A: I always encourage new moms who are not familiar with wearing a sling to opt for one of the micro-fleece fabrics. It is really soft and comfortable for both the mom and baby, and has a really small learning curve. Since there is a lot of stretch you can (with ease) figure out which position is most comfortable for your baby. Plus micro-fleece is super soft for the newborn.

Q: Do I need to adjust my sling as my baby grows?
A: No, that is another benefit of our sling! The different carrying positions will accommodate a growing baby in the same sling! The Peanut Shell® baby sling os perfect for babies up to 36lbs. We have built-in features to allow for growth such as: We finish all edges of the micro-fleece slings to make the fabric softer and act like a little cusion on a toddler's legs. Also finished edges on the micro-fleece help with keeping the hip carried baby from trying to back dive out of the pouch. For the cotton and reversible slings we have a sleek leg padding that prevents any unnecessary discomfort where the fabric hits the baby's legs (once the baby moves in to the hip carry position).

Q: Is the micro-fleece Peanut Shell® baby sling too warm for my baby?
A: For the winter or cooler weather, no. In the summer it is going to depend on your preference and how often you will be wearing your baby outdoors. The first few months of your baby's life you probably will not be outdoors too much for long periods of time so factoring warmth probably will not be an big issue. Keep in mind no matter what type of fabric you do choose, having a little one snuggled against you will increase your temperature! Please note that all of the fabrics used to make the Peanut Shell® baby sling are very breathable and our micro-fleece naturally keeps moisture controlled so whatever you choose is fine for year-round wear. However be sure to dress your baby appropriately if the weather is hot (ex. only a onesie in warmer weather).

Q: What is the difference in the fabrics of Peanut Shell® baby sling?
A: The difference in the fabrics breaks down into 3 main categories, micro-fleece, cotton stretch and cotton reversibles. The cotton reversibles are a wonderful 100% cotton sling that do not have a stretch to them. They are super supportive, offer a print and solid color in one sling. Most moms find the reversibles to be just as comfortable as the cotton stretch because of the 2 layers of fabric. The cotton stretch fabrics are mostly cotton (93-97%) with Lycra for a nice little stretch. They are not stretchy like a T-Shirt but as a pair of stretch jeans. Our solid twills have a 7% stretch which is phenomenal for giving you just enough give without being too stretchy! The cotton stretch may be a sateen, twill or other cotton blend and will be noted in the description. Each of these varieties is really the way the fabric is weaved and finished. Micro-fleece is a fabulously luscious lightweight version of fleece. It does feel warmer to the touch than a cotton but breathes really well in warmer weather....however most people in high humidity or high temperatures love the cotton reversibles or cotton stretch.

Q: All about the padding on the Peanut Shell® baby sling
A: Your baby's comfort is our concern all of the Peanut Shell® baby sling varieties of Cotton Stretch and Reversibles have sleek leg padding. The padding is only along the "bottom rail" of the sling... where the baby's legs would rest in a hip carry (or in Tummy 2 Tummy with their legs out). It acts as a soft cusion to prevent the fabric from being to stiff on the baby's legs. It does not add any warmth to the sling or bulk!

Q: Where can I buy the Peanut Shell® baby sling in person?
A: Take a look at our growing list of retail locations listed on our Store Locator. We actually recommend buying from a local store so you can avoid any posibility of needing a size exchange. No store close to you? Let your favorite store know they need to carry the Peanut Shell® baby sling!!

Q: Does the sling stretch out with extended wear?
A: No, we use fabrics that hold their shape over time. The pouch will stretch about 1" with wear, just like clothes, but goes back to normal after washing. If you do have a sling that is too large for you from the start as the baby gets older it will feel like it stretches more because the baby now weighs more. A snug fit (with the microfleece) is really important :)

    Q: Newborn Placement in sling
    A: www.thebabywearer.com/articles/HowTo/CorrectPositioning.htm

Q: I think my Peanut Shell® baby sling is too small (or big)! How can I tell?
A: Think it is too small?? The sling should fit snug but not be uncomfortable. If you can get your baby in but it is just a little difficult then you may have the right size. Positioning does take practice. However you should feel comfortable. If you are still pregnant then you will most likely think a correct fitting Peanut Shell® baby sling is too small (due to belly!) Too big? If you think your Peanut Shell® baby sling is too big, it probably is. We do our best to help with size but are not always perfect. The baby shoud be securely snug against you where you feel like you can truly be hands free. You can always email us a picture for an additional opinion. If your sling was purchased from our Web site, we are happy to do an exchange within 21 days as long as the sling is in new condition and was not a final sale. If you pouch was purchased from a retail location please contact them regarding their return policy. Visit our policies page for full details.

Q: I now carry my baby to the hip carry and my sling is now too big. Why?
A: Alas, the joy of growing up. With a bigger baby they take up less roomin the pouch so contrary to what you might think, a lot of people can wear a smaller size with a toddler. Here is a tip that helps too: Do a shoulder tuck with the sling! You do this by pulling the top layer of fabric on your shoulder down & back over your shoulder. This will pull the baby in toward you (kind of like doubling up the fabric). This is also a great way to show off your reversible Peanut Shell®! If you still feel like it is too large or the baby rides too low (or leans too far back) you may need to order a smaller size.

    Q: I live in another country, can I get a Peanut Shell®?
A: Sure thing, please visit our Store Finder to find a distributor near you! If you cannot locate a local carrier then please e-mail us at info at goo-ga dot com and we can work with you to place an order. Goo-Ga Style, Inc. is not responsible for any international packages that are lost or stolen.

Q: Can I breastfeed in the Peanut Shell® baby sling?
A: You sure can, this is another great use!
